Davidoff Mini Cigarillos — what makes them different

These are dry-cured machine-made cigarillos, not the same category as Cuban Habanos cigarillos. The dry curing means the leaf is held at lower humidity than a Habano and reads differently — more like a small, sharper, immediate smoke than a compressed premium cigar. They are short — around 80 mm — and burn in about 10 to 15 minutes.

Three lines on the shelf:

• Gold — Dominican leaf, milder profile, slightly sweet character. The most approachable of the three.
• Silver — a touch fuller than Gold, with more spice on the finish.
• Nicaragua — the strongest of the three, built around Nicaraguan leaf with the more peppery, full-bodied character that the origin is known for.
